  • 1 box Devil’s Food cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the Devil’s Food cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
  4. In another bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Spread the ricotta mixture over the cake batter in the pan.
  6. Pour the remaining cake batter over the ricotta layer.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips and cocoa powder on top.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
  10. Whip the heavy cream and serve it on top of each slice if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use full-fat ricotta cheese.
  • Allow the cake to chill in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving for better flavor.
