Print Recipe

Delicious cupcakes topped with a spooky marshmallow spider web design, perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 can chocolate frosting
  • 1 bag mini marshmallows
  • Black food coloring
  • 1 package gummy spiders (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  4. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
  6. Spread a layer of chocolate frosting on each cupcake.
  7. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the mini marshmallows until they puff up, then stir in black food coloring to create a spider web effect.
  8. Using a spoon, drizzle the melted marshmallow mixture over the frosted cupcakes to create a web design.
  9. Top each cupcake with a gummy spider for decoration.

Notes

  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, consider adding chocolate chips to the batter.
  • Ensure the marshmallows are melted enough to create a smooth drizzle.
  • These cupcakes can be made a day in advance; just add the spider web decoration on the day of serving.
