Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • Pickles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form them into loose balls.
  3. Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form patties.
  4. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip the patties.
  6. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Toast the burger buns on the skillet until golden brown.
  8. Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup on the buns, then add the smashed patties, diced onions, and pickles if desired.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or smoked paprika to the beef.
  • Feel free to customize toppings according to your preference.
  • Make sure the skillet is hot enough to achieve a good sear on the burgers.
